Overview

One of our larger systems created for our client’s R&D global function, the flavour database library and trend hub is a single point of access for flavour and seasoning development for the R&D teams across the globe for foods and beverage. It is one of very few innovation systems in the business that serves every single aspect of product development.

The flavour database – alongside the global supplier briefing system – are integrated tools to manage the storage of flavour data, provide key trend and consumer insights and manage renovation or reformulation of flavours via a standardised briefing process.

The database allows refined searching of existing flavours and seasonings using key product attributes such as sensory characteristics, taste and region of use. In being able to quickly and easily find existing flavours that match project characteristics, Product Developers are able to order samples from vendors via the system. Having this information at their fingertips has enabled reformulation processes to thrive whereas previously, many similar flavours were created from scratch in different regions over and over again.

Our client’s products are enjoyed by consumers more than one billion times a day in more than 200 countries and territories around the world with a product portfolio which includes a wide range of foods and beverages, including many iconic brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
